About South City Asbestos Removal

Your local, licensed team for safe asbestos removal across the Mornington Peninsula & greater Melbourne

Who We Are

South City Asbestos Removal was established in 2018 by Brendan, backed by 10+ years of hands-on industry experience. Based in Somerville, we’re a small, highly capable team with strong construction backgrounds, so we understand how to work efficiently on active sites while keeping safety, compliance, and project timelines front of mind.

Our point of difference is simple: we do things properly. Asbestos removal demands a disciplined, methodical approach, not shortcuts. We quote accurately, scope thoroughly, and manage each job with clean site practices and clear communication, so owners and builders know exactly what to expect at every stage.

We also recognise the stress that can come with unexpected asbestos. Brendan is known for being calm and easy to deal with, taking the time to explain what’s happening and guide clients through the next steps with confidence and clarity.

GET IN TOUCH

The South City Standard

When asbestos is involved, the difference is in the details, the planning, the containment, and the way the site is managed from start to clearance. Our approach is built to protect people, property, and project timelines, with clear communication at every step.

Compliance-led Removal

We follow Class B licensed processes with the right documentation, controls, and site preparation. Every job is planned to meet requirements and reduce risk from start to finish.

Clean, Controlled Sites

We set up proper containment and keep work areas organised and professional throughout the removal. When we leave, the site is clean, safe, and ready for the next trade.

Clear Communication

You’ll get straight answers, a clear scope, and guidance you can actually act on, especially if asbestos is uncovered unexpectedly. We keep you informed at each stage so there are no surprises.

Independent Clearance Included

We arrange an independent inspection and provide a clearance certificate as part of the job. It’s the reassurance you need that the area is safe to re-enter and continue work.

Reliable for Builders

We understand timelines, access coordination, and working around other trades. Our team turns up prepared, keeps the site moving, and completes work with minimal disruption.

Our Process: Safe from Start to Clearance

A disciplined, step-by-step approach that prioritises compliance, clean site control, and clear communication. From first contact to final clearance, you’ll always know what’s happening and what comes next.

First contact and practical advice

If you’ve uncovered something suspicious, we’ll ask a few key questions, such as the age of the home and what you’ve found, then guide you to the safest next step. If you’re local, we can often attend to assess and quote.

Site visit and clear quote

Brendan will attend the site, talk through the job with the owner or builder, and provide a clear scope and quote so you know exactly what’s included.

Compliance planning as required

For asbestos removal work, we manage the required planning and documentation, including SWMS and a control plan, plus the WorkSafe notification where applicable.

Transport and compliant disposal

Asbestos waste is wrapped and transported to an approved asbestos facility, with disposal handled through the proper channels. We also operate EPA-registered trucks, drivers, and business systems for compliant transport.

Independent clearance certificate included

After removal, we arrange an independent inspection and provide an asbestos clearance certificate as part of the job, giving you confidence that the area is safe to re-enter.

On-site set-up and safe removal

On the day, we confirm access requirements, ensure the site is clear where required, notify nearby neighbours when appropriate, and establish exclusion zones, signage, and safety barriers before removal begins.

Licensing, Safety & Insurance

We’re a WorkSafe-listed Class B asbestos removalist, licensed for non-friable asbestos-containing materials (for example, asbestos cement sheeting and vinyl tiles).

We also maintain the insurance and compliance practices clients expect, including:

  • WorkSafe licensing (Class B)
  • Public, Products & Pollution Liability (including asbestos liability)
  • WorkCover
  • Up-to-date, qualified team with required checks and compliance processes

As a Class B removalist, we do not remove friable (Class A) asbestos. If friable asbestos is suspected, we’ll advise you on the right next step.
